PhD studentships
The CRE will offer a small number of fully funded four-year interdisciplinary PhD studentships.
The studentships will train successful applicants to be competitive scientists in the highly challenging, but uniquely exciting, environment of interdisciplinary research.
Applications closed on 16 April 2025. Details of the next call will be posted here once confirmed.
About the studentships
The studentships will be four years in duration, with no integrated master's course. However, students will be able to participate in selected modules of particularly relevant master's courses. These studentships may therefore be particularly suitable if you already have a master's-level qualification.
The projects on offer will aim to develop students who have excellent understanding and technical capabilities in interdisciplinary cardiovascular research. Usually, this will be in two disciplines.
The programme will offer interdisciplinary projects in the CRE's areas of focus:
- cardiovascular genomics and development
- cardio-inflammation
- heart failure
- cardiovascular data science
- computational modelling and simulation.
The support offered by the studentships will consist of fees, a stipend (at British Heart Foundation rates) and consumables for the project, for four years.
How to apply
Applications closed on 16 April 2025. Details of the next call will be posted here once confirmed.
You will need to submit your CV and a supporting statement (maximum 500 words). Those shortlisted will subsequently be interviewed.
It will be important to liaise closely with the principal investigators co-supervising the project in which you are interested. We will welcome applications from those in groups traditionally under-represented in PhD programmes. We will also welcome applications from international students.
